December 6th is the feast day of the saint, St. Nicholas. For ancestors of Scandinavian descent, this is an annual tradition. Whereas, on the eve of December 5th they shine their best Sunday shoes and put them by the front door with their Christmas lists tucked inside. When they wake up the next morning St. Nicholas has taken their Christmas lists and left a few treats and surprises in their shoes. So, I have decided to “adopt” this tradition. My husband’s family is Scandinavian, and mine are Scandinavian and German. Spencer is going to love this new Christmas tradition. He just finished polishing his black concert shoes….I will go find some shoes to polish of my own and get ready for this fun new tradition! Won’t you join us?
