Valentines Day Craft

blog40

blog41Well, I have been trying to come up with a cute token for the kids in Spencer’s classroom for Valentine’s Day. I am trying really hard to avoid the “sweets”, which, if you know me very well, that is near impossible! So, when I saw these crocheted hearts on one of my friends Facebook page, I knew I could come up with something! So I sat during Spencer’s violin practice and made 25 of these hearts. I was going to turn 1/2 of them into barretts or hair clips for the girls, but then decided to treat them all to new pencils. The children are doing a lot of writing lately so these will come in handy.

I will be changing my blog up a bit and start including “how-to’s” on my projects. So, check back later tonight for complete instructions on how to make these hearts and attaching them to the pencils.

If you are interested in purchasing some hearts, I can customize the colors for you. I don’t have them in my etsy shop yet, so just send me a note. No job is too small or too big!

Go out and make it a super, fabulous day!

xoxo Christine

Burlap Bags…

blog36

blog37j61Well, the rest of our “hookie” day was fabulous…We went for a jumbo frozen yogurt, we did some reading and then we went to violin practice. It was a beautiful day ~!

I am really blessed to have a son that loves to read! It is sometimes difficult for me to finish my book each month for book club, yet Spencer can sit and read a book in a day ~ very happy mommy.

On another note….My sister in laws birthday is here….and I love finding just the right way to “wrap” gifts. I made these burlap bags at Christmas time and now I have some extra I can use for other occasions. I simply put fabric paper in my printer, printed out her “Happy Birthday”, hot glued it on the bag and voila. I love this designer “Lisa Leonard”. If you are ever in need of a special jewelry gift for that special someone, check out her website. I truly hope she loves her “sister” necklace as much as I do. http://www.lisaleonard.com

I hope y’all are having a fabulous Monday~! xo

blog27Every once in awhile I keep Spencer from school and we have a day of just fun! This little 7 year old does a lot during a typical week. Besides attending school from 8-2:30. He does his usual homework, and we are learning Spanish at home, and he does extra Kahn Math and he goes to violin lessons 3 times per week. And these violin lessons are 2 hours long. So, when I decided to have a “fun day” with my son I don’t feel the least bit guilty.

Here is a view of what our “fun day” is looking like today:

We have gone bike riding in the rain…We hiked in the canyon….we juiced for daily health and stay tuned to see what the rest of our day ends up like 🙂

I hope y’all are having a fabulous day with your children! I know I am! xoxo

The Start Of A Healthy Day

blog26

I try to start each day with one of these green juices. Now, I know to a lot of people, these are not appealing, but trust me when I say that you can get used to them very easily! Here is what I put in my juicer today:

6 whole carrots
1/3 bunch of raw spinach
3 stalks of celery
1 whole red bell pepper
1/2 red apple

This yields about 16 ounces of juice. With the addition of the apple, the juice was very sweet this morning. If you would like some suggestions on getting started, I would happy to help you!

Today is Spring Cleaning in my house. I started with my closet and my half of the bathroom. 4 hours later, I had cleaned out one of my closets and gone through and organized all my bathroom/sundry/make up items. Embarressing to admit, but I found so many things I don’t ever use. Off to the Good Will it shall go.
Now I must sit down and address all these New Years Cards…then I will be off to pick up my beautiful son from 2nd Grade!!

I hope y’all are making it a fab-dabulous day!! xoxo

The New Years Cards are almost done. I’ve done all the cutting and pasting and now it’s time to stuff the envelopes. I forgot how much work was involved in making cards. When you have 100 to do at once, it gets a bit tedious, but I’m pretty happy with how they turned out. I’ll show you the finished product later in the week.

Here is Spencer at violin practice with Aimee. They are showing off their missing teeth…both have the exact teeth waiting to come in.

Valentines Day is right around the corner so I started another project today for the teacher. Can you guess what I will be doing with these glass jars and red hots? I will show you…stay tuned.

I hope y’all are having a fabulous day. Here in San Diego we are finally getting some warmer temperatures and it feels divine. As I sit here in my office, the sun is beating on my back and it feels wonderful.

Leave me some blog love and let me know what you have planned for Valentines Day! xoxo

Peanut Butter and Banana Pinwheels

blog22Happy Tuesday Everyone ~!

I am always trying to put fun and yummy food in my son’s lunch box. So today we made tortilla pinwheels. Simply spread peanut butter on a tortilla, place a whole banana at one end and roll tightly. With a sharp knife, slice into pinwheels. They look cute and are healthy and delicious. Add a side of grapes and it’s a perfect lunch.

Have a wonderful day everyone. I am spending the morning making our New Year’s Cards to mail out. I will share them with you tomorrow.

Go out and make it a great day! xo

~Happy New Year~

d23I hope all my fabulous readers had a joyous holiday season with family and loved ones. We were very busy with relatives in town and then both my boys getting sick. Everybody is healthy so we are back on track and I promise to blog daily again. Thank you for your patience. I will be bringing you all the fabulous things I do as a “stay at home mom”. Go out and make it a great day….don’t waste it on procrastination, follow your dreams! xoxo

Christmas morning with his teddy bear and matching pajamas. This little boy is growing up too fast ~ thank goodness he still loves his stuffed animals.

5:48 am Wake Up Call…

blog15blog15

Okay mom’s out there, you are probably going to say I am crazy, but I will share what our morning was like today. At 5:48 Spencer walked into our room and ohhhhhhhhh so politely asked if he had “permission” to go downstairs and watch Curious George. How could I resist those manners? I knew he probably had gotten enought sleep…after all he was sent to bed early last night ( no need for those details right now ) and he was fast asleep by 8:00pm. So, against my usual “go lie back in bed for awhile”, I let him go watch cartoons. I soon joined him with my cup of tea and we snuggled. One of my favorite things to do with my 7 year old. Well, fast forward to 7:00am….Daddy has left for work and what to do? Well, start the building the Gingerbread House of course. So we did. We constructed the walls and will decorate with candy later today.

Just had to share what our morning was like. You never know, this may happen to you tomorrow and now you have it all planned out, right?

Make it a great day everyone; 13 days before Santa Claus arrives! xoxo

Holidays and Candy Canes just go together…

Spencer and I talked about giving his classmates a little treat this week so we came up with these little candy canes with a little “happy holidays, heart spencer.” Aren’t they cute? I think his classmates are going to be thrilled. And I am positive that his teacher, Mrs. Daniels will have the kids put them in their backpacks to take home…no candy at school is a very good rule! I hope y’all are having a great week and I hope you are not rushing around too much with your Santa lists!! Happy Tuesday! xoxoblog14
